Rob Reen | Artist

Rob was born in Swansea in 1951 and studied Fine Art at Cheltenham College Of Art and Cardiff University. He formerly held the role of Head of Art & Design at Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School in Aylesbury. Rob is now a full-time professional artist whose work has gained momentum and recognition over a period of thirty years.

Rob now lives and works in Aberdovey in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, an environment that has instilled him with a deep affinity with the landscape.

These large, emotive oil paintings, inspired by the Welsh landscape, examine the contrasting perspectives of isolation and belonging.

A strong, expressionistic use of colour and his distinctive impasto style are the well known hallmarks of Rob’s paintings. His large canvases of sheep and farm buildings, and his most recent large paintings of sheep heads, are dramatic and yet filled with a sense of stillness.

Rob has exhibited widely and his work is collected internationally.

Visitors are most welcome to his studio by appointment.

Rob’s paitings and ceramics will be exhibited at Palé Hall throughout 2017. We hope you will have an opportunity to appreciate them when you are visiting us.
