Stay

At Palé Hall, a stay is something altogether different. Rooms and suites are shaped by the history of the house, where every detail speaks quietly of another era. Outside, the Dee Valley stretches wide and the hills of Snowdonia rise beyond. Come for a night, and find yourself wanting to stay much longer.

Dine

At Palé Hall, dining unfolds at its own pace - unhurried, considered, and rooted in the land that surrounds us. Each menu tells the story of the season, drawing on the finest Welsh produce for both lunch and dinner, whether you choose to follow the tasting menu or explore à la carte.

Country Pursuits

At Palé Hall, the estate is yours. Cast a line on the Dee, take on four drives of simulated clay shooting across the valley, or saddle up and head out into the hills. Walk the woodland, pick up a rod, or challenge the guns to a rematch. However the day unfolds, the landscape is always part of it.

Paul Pigram

Bold, joyful and impossible to ignore - a new exhibition that brings colour, nostalgia and a touch of the unexpected to the Courtyard Gallery this June.

For the past two months, the Courtyard Gallery at Palé Hall has been home to the work of Bob Shires. His exhibition, 12 Years in the Making, has traced a quietly compelling journey - landscapes shaped by a lifelong connection to Anglesey, reimagined in the studio with an atmospheric quality that sits somewhere between memory and observation. Bob's work now moves into the main house, where it will continue to be on display and available to purchase as part of the Palé Hall collection.

Which brings us to what arrives next.

On 12th June, the Courtyard Gallery welcomes Paul Pigram - and the change of pace could hardly be more deliberate. Where Bob's work invites quiet contemplation, Paul's demands your attention from across the room.

Paul has been making art since before he could articulate why. Headhunted by a leading Manchester advertising agency at 17, he spent 25 years in the creative industry before doing what he had always intended - returning to painting full time. Based now in North Wales, his work has evolved into something entirely its own: bold, colourful and joyful, rooted in the pop art of the 1960s and 70s, and shot through with a nostalgia that feels genuinely felt. Every painting tells a story. Most of them make you smile.

His new exhibition, Punch and Judy, takes its inspiration from the iconic wooden puppets that have entertained and provoked audiences for over 350 years. Alongside the Punch and Judy series, Paul also brings his Blythe Doll paintings - inspired by the distinctive wide-eyed dolls of the early 1970s, now enjoying a remarkable revival as collector's items - which carry the same warmth and character that runs through everything he makes. All works are available to purchase and can be enquired about at art@palehall.co.uk.

On Saturday 27th June, Paul will be at the estate in person for a free Meet the Artist evening, demonstrating his pastel techniques and talking about the work and the ideas behind it. It is an open, informal evening and everyone is welcome. No booking required.

The Courtyard Gallery is open daily for residents and visitors from 9am to 6pm, with private viewings available by appointment. Paul's and Bob's full collection can be viewed on the Palé Hall dedicated art website at palehallfineartandantiques.co.uk. To enquire about any works on display, contact the team at art@palehall.co.uk or call 01678 530 285.
